Buổi chia sẻ thân mật sẽ mang đến những tư duy và nhận thức khác về lịch sử và văn hóa Việt, cùng những đối thoại đa chiều với mỗi khán giả sẽ đi vào từng mảng đề tài cụ thể để kiến giải những ẩn chứa suy tư triết học của các bậc tiền nhân thông qua Lễ giáo. Đồng thời chúng ta cũng sẽ nhìn lại cảnh quan của lễ nghi gia đình Việt trước làn sóng ảnh hưởng ngày càng mạnh mẽ của văn hóa phương Tây như là một sự soi chiếu vào chính mình để suy niệm lại về tổng thể lịch sử văn hóa, con người và xã hội Việt Nam mà chính mỗi người là một phần nhỏ trong đó.
Giới thiệu
“Traditional culture", including ritual learning and customs, is a concept with many complex and elusive definitions.
To approach this question, we will move through a path that begins with the idea of culture as a set of tools for relating to the world around us, before turning to another dimension of culture as a space of conflict and as an instrument for social change.
Finally, the discussion will explore the connection with “faith and ancestor worship” in contemporary society, as well as the dual function of culture: as a force that helps shape personal experience, and as a shared heritage of the community.
This intimate sharing session will offer new ways of thinking about Vietnamese history and culture, together with multidimensional dialogues with each audience member. The discussion will move through specific themes to interpret the philosophical reflections embedded in the teachings and ritual practices of our ancestors. At the same time, we will look back at the landscape of Vietnamese family rituals under the growing influence of Western culture, as a mirror through which we may reflect on the broader history, culture, people, and society of Vietnam, of which each of us is a small part.

RESEARCHER NGUYỄN HẢI ANH
Researcher Nguyễn Hải Anh graduated from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, with specializations in Confucianism, Confucian classics studies, civil examination education, Confucian ritual studies, and customs.
Some of his published research contributions include: “Buddhism in Đàng Ngoài in the Eighteenth Century as Reflected through Trai Đàn Giải Kết,” Hán Nôm Studies 2021, Institute of Hán Nôm Studies, Thế Giới Publishers, pp. 18 to 33; “The Reception of Tứ Thư Đại Toàn in Vietnam,” in Confucian Classics Studies in Vietnam and East Asia: Heritage and Value, edited by Nguyễn Tài Đông, Vietnam National University Press, Hanoi, pp. 103 to 116; and “Family Rituals and the Reform of Family Rituals in Nam Phong Magazine,” Hán Nôm Studies 2023, Institute of Hán Nôm Studies, forthcoming.

ARCHITECT NGUYỄN HÀ
After graduating from the Faculty of Architecture at the National University of Civil Engineering, she received a postgraduate scholarship in architecture at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich. After working in Switzerland for a period of time, she returned to Vietnam in 2010 and opened a practice with two Swiss architects.
The Đạo Mẫu Museum of artist Xuân Hinh, which she designed, made her the first Vietnamese architect to receive the prestigious Moira Gemmill Prize, an award for the world’s most promising women designers under the age of 45.
She is currently the founder and architect of Arb Architects Vietnam.
ARTIST TRIỆU MINH HẢI
He is a lecturer and practicing artist working across various fields, including easel painting, installation, and video art. He is also the founder of Puppets Studio, a center dedicated to practices related to ceramics.
He is currently a lecturer at the School of Interdisciplinary Sciences and Arts, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
ARTIST NGUYỄN QUỐC HOÀNG ANH
Hoàng Anh is a multimedia artist and art curator whose work spans multiple fields, including cultural heritage, contemporary art, and advertising communications. He studied classical music at the Military University of Culture and Arts, communications at FPT Arena, documentary filmmaking at DocLab, and sound art curation through Sounds Now by Onassis Stegi, Greece.
His mixed media works reflect diverse lived experiences in an ever changing world. Alongside his individual artistic practice, Hoàng Anh is also actively involved in building and expanding local arts and cultural communities.
He founded and has directed Lên Ngàn since 2019, a multilingual arts and culture platform dedicated to connecting the interdisciplinary arts and culture ecosystem with the cultural industries.
The intimate talk is part of “Tuning In,” a community oriented programme initiated by Lên Ngàn. This is Lên Ngàn’s first conversation series on interdisciplinary dialogue, created with the hope of bringing into clearer view the portraits and ideas that time, or social and historical limitations, have covered in a layer of dust, causing us to forget the pioneering contributions of previous generations.
There are certain achievements that cultural figures, researchers, artists, and others have discovered, opened up, and laid the foundations for, yet many of them have not been fully received or developed by later generations. Each generation seems to begin again from the start, without knowing, or sometimes overlooking, the many accomplishments of those who came before.
